While I am a reportage wedding photographer, who specialises in observational, natural photography, there’s still space in any wedding day to try something a little quirky and fun. It all depends on whether the bride and groom are comfortable trying things – if they’re not, wedding photographers should never push them. It’s their big day and they’re in charge.
Catherine and Stephen were relaxed and comfortable about trying something a little different. As their wedding reception was at Richmond Golf Club in London (or is it Surrey? Or is it both?) I thought it would be a good idea to borrow a couple of golf clubs and use them as props. We got lots of fun photos of them tee-ing off! I especially like this one. While it was all a little contrived, Catherine and Stephen got into the swing of things (pardon the pun) and I just watched, observed and got some great wedding photographs that really capture the brilliant, fun, warm atmosphere of the day.
