A wedding photographer shouldn’t just be trying to get great photographs of the bride and groom all day, even though that is normally the main priority. I always make sure that I get to know who all the ‘key players’ are early on – parents, siblings, grandparents, bridesmaids, best man etc as the bride and groom will want relatively more photos of their nearest and dearest than other wedding guests.
While this photo is very observational (the best man did not know I was across the floor of the fantastic and unusual wedding venue – the auditorium of the Gate Cinema in Notting Hill!), I as waiting for my my moment. I liked the idea of either the groom or the best man or both walking past the ‘Gentlemen’ sign. I only had to wait a few minutes before the best man came into the frame and adjusted his button hole. Perfect opportunity for what I think turned out to be a really nice observational wedding photograph.
